this class really came into the light for me today..
saw a few artists that are all talented in their own ways
hip hop theatre...
idk if this is really what i would enjoy
but its definitely something i want to try
i lean more towards freestyle than spoken word or like the performances i saw today
but i definitely will give it a shot for hip hop
looking forward to this class where the performances get moer serious and Kashi starts to expect more from us as days pass.
i definitely though Danny Hoch was weird...but in somewhat interesting..
he seemed to know how to portray his life and views in acting, freestyle, and storytelling.
it was madd weird seeing how he did it..but if thats whats hip hop theatre is..than i give respect to him.
but something thats been inspiring me to shine too nowadays is asher roth..
heres another shit by him thats good for the ears.

Beastie Boys

Beastie Boys, originally, the Young Aborigines, first started as a hardcore punk group. As this New York City rock band switched over to a Hip Hop group, their roads to success were coming closer. As they gained more and more fame and allured a bigger and bigger audience, they became a famous group known for their lyrics, outrageous outfits, and their outstanding performances.
I enjoy the songs by the Beastie Boys because of their ability to rhyme with various beats. As simple as a guitar and drums were all they needed to make a song. A lot of new artists nowadays model after the Beastie Boys. Bands like Gym Class Heroes and N.E.R.D are great examples that portray rock and alternative to hip hop. From Beastie Boys’ outfits to their passion they portray in their music, I personally enjoy listening to their music to hype up. I also appreciate the titles they give to their albums. For example, I thought it was deep on how they named one of their albums “To the 5 Boroughs” after the September 11 attack.
“No Sleep til Brooklyn” was a popular hit. Even their music video was very funny and amusing to watch. As the music starts with the electric guitar to drums, the band shows how difficult things can be possible by spitting nice lines off of a rock beat. I feel as if the song was somehow a bridge from their rock-band-phase to their hip-hop-phase.
Even though this band were the prior ones to consider them “gangsters” and rap about violence, drugs, alcohol, and sex, they still managed to come out with great albums without worrying over the critics.

old school.
we have old school pres. on tuesday and im kinda excited.
beastie boys, actually known for rock, has a really good song "no sleep til brooklyn"
seems like my songs gonna be different from the others since its beats are from electric guitars and drums, but i think its gonna be interesting.
1/22 FW
hip hop cant be erased as
people just consider it a phase
of the over imagined mind
that took over and took place
but i consider it an innate trait
that we rap from the heart and the state
of mind when we flow, and i consider it great
how we can speak from the deep inside
and how we can still start strong and abide
to what we love that we chose to provide
us with beats and lines as they collide
to create this thing called hip hop
or the elements on which we relied
the past and the hopes
the hot beats, lines that are dope
are for ignorant ones who need to learn how to cope
how all this shit has a meaning
ill introduce myself with 16 bars as a greeting

old school
beastie boys-no sleep til brooklyn
the old school project seems interesting.
i like going back to hip hop's history and memorizing verses.
but honestly..i personally would like to write our own lines more.
learning about hip hop is awesome and dressing up and performing is fun, too since i really never did that stuff
im sure there's a long way ahead for us to get better at what were here for but i def want to be a few levels ahead at the end than im at now.
1/21/09 'survival of the fittest' instrumentals fw started.
not a huge fan of pap
but another good stuff for the ears

hip hop is...

hip hop is history of prodigies
of beats, style, and music-a part of me
ya feeling me?
from the old to the new
school thats sculptin me and you
hip hop is the abstract
ya daily life's facts
like how i spit crack
on any beats to hot tracks
hip hop is something that can move
a person to start feelin the groove
as they stand and spit lyrics to soothe
the people who wants lyrics too smoothe
